Before the Prophet sent Mus'ab bin Umair, Yathrib was pagan territory. The majority of inhabitants worshiped idols. As in Makkah, the authorities of Yathrib also makes little god statues in their homes, although there are big idols in shrines public. Habit that continued when one by one townspeople who later named Medina began to convert to Islam.

As a ruler, Amr bin Jamuh also has a statue of a god in his home. His son Muadh ibn Amr had converted to Islam first. He wanted to become a Muslim father as well. Muadh bin Jabal herewith he made propaganda strategy for the father, hoping that his father left the idolatry towards mentauhidkan Allah Ta'ala. To that end, both will bring to the father that his idol could not do anything.

Action both young men run in the evenings. Unbeknownst Amr bin Jamuh, they took the statue named Manat it and throw it into the trash.

The next day, Amr bin Jamuh surprised because his god was not in place. After looking for it here and there, finally he found it in the trash god.

"Woe to you, who does brash at night my god," cried Amr bin Jamuh angry.Nobody claimed responsibility for the humiliation idol. Amr bin Jamuh then wash idols, giving fragrances and putting it back in place.

The next night, Muadh ibn Amr and Muadh bin Jabal re-run a similar action. They Manat then throw it into the trash.

The next day, Amr bin Jamuh again surprised because his god was not in place. He also discovered that God is in the trash.

"Woe to you, who does brash at night my god," Amr bin Jamuh increasingly angry.

He was getting annoyed because he felt mocked. He did not want his god despised. He picked up a sword and placed in the neck Manat, after the idol was washed and unscented. "If you bring goodness, protect yourself with this sword!" Said Amr bin Jamuh, without any response from the statue.

Later that night, the two young Muslims back "work on" Manat.

Amr bin Jamuh who again lost his god soon to look. He found Manat in the same place. Worse, that morning Manat tied to a dead dog.

This time Amr bin Jamuh not take it. He let Manat granted. "If you're a god, you will not be tied to a dead dog." Soon after he converted to Islam.
